Dental Implants Provider Downtown Los Angeles
When a tooth goes missing and stays missing, the surrounding teeth start to shift toward the gap. The jawbone underneath begins to resorb because there's no root stimulating it. The bite changes. Other teeth wear unevenly. A dental implant is the only tooth replacement that addresses all of this — because it replaces the root, not just the visible crown. Dr. Kevin Chin has been placing implants at City of Angels Dentistry in Downtown Los Angeles since 2018, and his approach to every case starts with the same question: what does this specific patient actually need?
Dental Implants
Dental implants are a titanium post placed in the jawbone, topped with a custom porcelain crown. The implant integrates with the bone over 3–6 months in a process called osseointegration, then the crown is attached. The result looks and functions exactly like a natural tooth, doesn't require altering adjacent teeth, and is designed to last a lifetime with proper care. For patients replacing a single missing tooth, a single tooth implant is almost always the better long-term choice compared to a bridge, provided the bone supports it.
Dental Implant Consultation
The first step for any implant patient is a dental implant consultation. Dr. Chin reviews your bone volume, gum health, and overall oral health, compares implants honestly against other replacement options for your specific situation, and gives you a complete cost estimate and timeline before any treatment is planned. Most patients leave the consultation with a clear picture of exactly what the process involves — which is the point.
Implant Crown Placement
For patients who've already had an implant placed — either at City of Angels Dentistry or elsewhere — and need the crown, implant crown placement is a straightforward two-appointment process. Dr. Chin takes an impression once integration is confirmed, fabricates a custom porcelain crown matched to the surrounding teeth, and places it at the second visit. Transfers from other providers are accepted in most cases.
Full Arch Restoration
Patients who've lost most or all of their teeth in one or both arches have more options than conventional dentures. Full arch restoration using implant-supported prosthetics — fixed or removable depending on bone volume and patient goals — replaces the teeth and their roots, preserves the jawbone, and provides a level of function that conventional dentures simply can't match. Dr. Chin evaluates all appropriate options honestly at the consultation before any treatment is planned.
Who Is a Candidate for Dental Implants?
Good implant candidates have adequate bone volume, healthy gum tissue, and no uncontrolled conditions affecting healing. Patients who smoke, have diabetes, or have experienced bone loss can often still receive implants with appropriate preparation. The consultation determines where you stand. Same-week appointments are available at 1127 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 1100 in Downtown Los Angeles. Call (213) 908-2003.
